Eagle Scout Service Project:

Matt Fleming did a trail maintenance project for the U.S.D.A Forest Service. The project consisted of clearing overgrown brush and debris from the trail; grading the trail and rebuilding four switchbacks over a half mile length of the Silver Moccasin Trail in the Angeles National Forest.

Over a four-day period in February 1999, Matt let the Scouts of Troop 8 and eight adult volunteers on this trail service project that ultimately exceeded Matt's original goal by an additional 300 feet.  Matt's personal planning an organization totaled 60 hours and managed a total of 350 man-hours on this project.

Trail service projects such as the one performed by Matt are vital to the understaffed and under funded Forest Service and provide a tremendous service to the community.
