Welcome to Troop 8“Hiking to Infinity” |
Local Northstar District Boy Scout Troop 8 paid a different type of visit to a local lookout in Burbank Hills Saturday as part of a service project to conclude their patrol leaders training session.
---------Filling up seven large trash bags of garbage left behind on a "local lovers Lane". According to their Scout Master Chris Savage, "A typical boy scout troop is divided into patrols headed by a patrol leader and his assistant, who are in turn headed by a senior patrol leader elected by all the boys in the troop. An ideal troop is run completely by the Boy Scouts with the grown up leaders acting only as supervisors and advisors. The idea is to let the boys get a head start on learning leadership management skills by practicing them by planning outings every month or so of there own choice."
"These newly elected leaders serve a six month term and are elected by members in their respective patrols. After elections, the newly elected leaders must attend a training session on leadership. In order to successfully complete this session the newly elected "top management team" must set a good example and organize a service project. "I suggested cleaning this lookout that has become a sort of 'Lovers Lane' to set an example that The best Leaders Lead others by simply by setting a good example for their juniors to follow."
This is a tested program that works by the fact that many of our greatest leaders including Astronauts (The first man to walk on the moon) to several of our presidents of these United States first management duties were as Boy Scouts.
Troop 8 is Chartered By Local Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International who's members also include local Media and Entertainment Executives, who are happy to see their boys doing a different job on "Lovers Lane"
